A History of the Schaeffer Education Cooperative
DIGITAL SLR CAMERA CLASS - July 13, 20, 27 and a Field Trip
My name is Christine Schaeffer. I established the Schaeffer Educational Cooperative about twelve years ago as a resource for home educated students in the metro DC area. I had been searching for group/class learning opportunities for my own home educated children and ended up creating my own group.
I began teaching Junior World Regional Geography and then expanded into teaching Senior High World Regional Geography. I have organized regional School Level National Geographic Bees for over eleven years.
This year I will be offering Political Science and Literature and the Silver Screen at the Rockville location near the White Flint Mall.
I teach two sections of my annual eight week Shakespeare course each spring which culminates in a massive class field trip to see an actual Shakespeare play presented by the Shakespeare Theatre's "Students for Shakespeare"program. This year's group will include 100 students, parents and friends.
In addition to teaching, I have created and operated my own photography business for 12+ years. This business, Digital Photography, has created a huge interest in photography in my students and their parents. As a result, this past year I launched my first Fundamentals of Digital Photography course. This course went extremely well and as such, I will be adding an Advanced Digital Photography course this fall.
If anyone has an interest in me teaching at their co-op or in hosting me at their home for a course, please contact me at [email protected]
